Miss Reiger, great TED talk! You not only talk about your own journey but outline some ways other people could learn a new language. I really like how you focused on tools that were free as many programs can be very pricey. I like how you outlined your struggles and were open about not meeting your goal but are still planning on practicing to meet your goal soon!
Great TED Talk! I liked how you introduced yourself, your question and how you told us how you decided to choose your Genius Hour question. It was also great how you explained the resources you used and found. You did not include anything that required documentation, so as far as that is concerned, good job! I was upset that you did not speak any French, it would have been great to show your progress. I'm sure you are way better than you think!
I also really liked how you addressed the goals that you made and how you realized that they were not realistic. This is a great learning experience that you can bring into the classroom! We have all been there.
One improvement would be to include a more thorough reflection to write above your video on this page, there are three things to include-check out the rubric!
Hey Maddy. I think that learning French is a great skill to have. I think its great that you tried to learn it independently. I understand how difficult it is because I also tried to do it once; and will definitely try to pick it up again. Conversation is very important when learning a new language, so I hope that you can find a friend to help you! If not, there are colleges that offer conversation courses if you are interested. I'm sure you will do it! One of the hardest parts is finding the time, but its great that you used apps like Duo lingo to help because they are easy and convenient. Good luck, and I hope that you continue to pursue your Genius Hour. Thanks for taking us through a timeline of your 8 weeks, I think that it will be helpful for anyone who may be pursuing a new language as well.
